In a recent issue of Monocle (I think it was the April or May edition), there was a short inset on several up and coming architects from around the world.  Most of the buildings featured were boring modernist homes, but the one that stood out in particular was the country house that architect Minoru Matsuzawa designed for himself and his wife.  It was the only building featured that still had a sense of both culture and craftsmanship.
