From the May 2010 issue.
Free & Easy will occasionally add these sections into their issues showing kid versions of the clothes that we like to wear and they’re always fun to skim through. Unfortunately for things like these, the pieces tend to cost almost as much as grown up versions. ;_;
Not paying much attention to this month’s issue of Free & Easy, StartWithTypewriters had to point out to me that there was a cool section in it on Frank Muytjens, VP of menswear design at J.Crew. The eight page spread shows off some of his favorite pieces from his wardrobe and home, and besides the obvious J.Crew stuff there were some surprising things listed.
The January 2010 edition of Free & Easy is out in stores now and they’ve started the year off with an issue devoted to all things tweed, even going as far as to cover different breeds of sheep and regions where wools originate from. Great stuff if you’re a fabric nerd. Also be sure to check out the extra section called Merry Xmas, Mr. Leather.
The December issue of Free & Easy is in stores now and it’s basically a manual on all things boots. There are great sections on North American manufacturers, boot types/terminology, as well as maintenance and modifications.
Free & Easy’s November issue focuses on heavy duty and manly clothing inspired by movie archetypes. There are also sections on Lee Riders, varsity jackets, Americana clothing for kids (I’d like to see a whole issue just for this topic), and Rocky Mountain Feather Bed down vests.
Spotted in the November 2009 issue of Free & Easy.
Available at WTD&W/E. (or maybe you can just have Inverallan make you one)
October’s issue of Free & Easy was based around an odd theme title of “Fashionable Jeans? FUCK!”. I think something was mistranslated somewhere.
The September issue of Free & Easy is probably the best one they’ve put out this year and the main theme is iconic American men (cowboys, surfers, fishermen, etc.). In a little over 200 pages, they’ve managed to compile a great selection of pictures showing off American culture and it covers everything from tweed sportcoats to pancakes. This is a definite pickup if you can get your hands on one (hint, keep an eye on this page).
Update: Added more pages by request – read on if you’d like to see a few choice scans.
